In this post we will see how to get temperature contours in all the objects under analysis in abaqus software.

Generally friction stir welding analysis is while doing in abaqus software when you want to get the temperature contour for the temperature result most of the temperature contour is only visible on the tool surface.This is because abaqus software represents the place where the highest temperature is seen.This is caused by overheating of the tool surface.This temperature change depends on what kind of material properties we use.We can get temperature contours on both plate and tool surface using the following procedures.

1) First click on the plot contours on deformed shape icon in the side menu icons on the visualization page.Then change the field output dialog box to temp (temperature).

2)Then click on the create display group icon.Clicking on the create display group icon will create a new tab.

3) In the new tab, select the part instances in the item area.Next, select the tool in the select in viewport area and click on the remove icon at the bottom of the tab.Doing so will temporarily remove the tool.Once the tool is removed the temperature contour will appear on the plate surface as well.

4) After removing the tool part, close that tab.Then click on the result menu in the top menu bar of the visualization page.

5) After clicking on the result menu, a new mini tab will appear below the result menu.Click on the step / frame in the mini tab.

6) After clicking on step/frame, a new tab for step / frame will be created.In that new tab, select any frame and give ok.

7) After giving ok, click on the animated time history icon in the side menu icons on the visualization page.The animated view will start running after clicking on the animated time history icon.

8) Once the animated view is finished, click on the create display group icon again and add the tool while the animated view is running and the temperature contour will appear on the tool surface.By following these procedures we can obtain temperature contour on both plate and tool surface.
